The Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Kitack Lim, will step down next December and the Board of the organization will have the task of choosing his replacement from a list of seven candidates, with excellent CVs among them. Here are the names:

To be elected Secretary-General of the IMO, the candidate must receive at least 21 of the 40 votes of the Member States of the IMO Council, including Brazil.
Brazilian maritime unions are pleased to inform full support to Cleopatra Doumbia-Henry. She is a defender of the rights of maritime workers, having played a key role in the International Labor Organization (ILO) during the development, adoption and ratification of the Maritime Labor Convention (MLC, 2006). It is important to note that the doors of her office have always been open to Brazilian seafarers to discuss matters of their interest.
Defined as a visionary leader by her peers, Doumbia-Henry is known for her ability to build consensus and mobilize resources. Having worked at the ILO for three decades, she pledges to lead the IMO in advancing social justice within the maritime industry by tackling issues such as labor rights, gender equality, working conditions and the well-being of maritime professionals.
We believe that Cleopatra Doumbia-Henry will work closely with Member States, industry stakeholders and international partners to ensure the maritime sector remains inclusive, equitable and creates opportunities for all.

O secretário-geral da Organização Marítima Internacional (IMO), Kitack Lim, deixará o cargo no próximo mês de dezembro e o Conselho da entidade terá como missão escolher o seu substituto de uma lista de sete candidatos, com excelentes currículos entre eles. Eis os nomes:
